CHP. 01:
A puppy → “puppy-ness”
The puppy is the fluffy dog that sits with me every day while I do homework. It is not a lump of polyester fiber filling.
Things are understood only at the crossing point where Dasein encounters them—not as abstract, objectified notions stripped of their setting, but as lived presences.
CHP. 02:
We do not truly know what a puppy is.
We only know that a puppy is not a kitten, not a deer, not an elephant. And so, it is a puppy.
The relation between the signifier and the thing itself is arbitrary—and arbitrariness is the rule.
